Flamingo Whimsy

Here is a picture of my whimsy corner on my front porch. It is my potted begonia with Francine Flamingo standing watch.

4th of July Flip Flops

I wanted to make some flip flops for the girls. Originally I looked for girly colors at Walmart, but they only had the right size for one of them. Knowing that making 2 different colors would make my life miserable, I went for the red, white and blue ones. I used Bernat Frenzy in Red, and Disco in Blue held together. The girls wore them all weekend and got compliments everywhere they went.

Fleuri Bag

Here is my version of the Fleuri Bag at Crochetme.com . I made mine with Lion Brand Suede Yarn in Eggplant. It only took a little over one skein and was a breeze to do! I lined it with purple polka dotted cotton from the remnant rack at Walmart. I like it, even if I did make it!

DHs Anniversary Afghan

I got DHs Anniversary afghan done. I just chained until I thought it was long enough and did a basic shell stitch. I did 4 rows and then switched colors. I ran out of the ombre and told DH I needed to go to Walmart to get more. He said, "Make it that size and call it done!" He didn't know it was for him! Anyway, it worked out.

Dishcloths for Missionaries

My cousin Sondra's daughter Becca is currently serving as a teaching missionary in Zanzibar. My little first grade mission girls collected supplies to send to her. One of the things she requested was cloth diapers. These are becoming harder and harder to find! She uses them instead of paper towels or towels to clean tables etc. So, I decided that maybe crocheted cotton dishcloths would be usable. I posted a notice at Crochetville, and a couple of people are helping me out! Another way to use a talent for God!

Prayer Shawl Ministry

After seeing prayer shawls, and prayer shawl ministries discussed online, I decided to approach our pastor about starting one at our church. We also have a Stephen Ministry program at our church. This program pairs trained lay ministers with those in need to help them walk through a tough time.

Our pastor was very supportive of starting the prayer shawl ministry! I sent a little blurb to be placed in the church paper, which was done. The staff also placed a slide on the overhead screen in church! So far I have 9 ladies of all ages who are going to participate!

I am so excited to be able to use a talent in this way.

Rainbow Posey Purse Posted by Hello

Rainbow Posey Purse

Well, I bought all this Paton's Fresco from Herrschner's because it was on sale. Now I know WHY it was on sale - there are no patterns for it - even on the Paton's site! So, I finally just messed around with it and this is what I came up with. It's not really rainbow, but it reminded me of rainbow sherbert. I am pretty pleased with it.

Still crocheting

Well, school is out. We have been at the pool most every day now. I am still crocheting in the evening. I recently finished a star dishcloth, and some fuzzy flip flops for my sister. I am working on a shell afghan for Big John for our anniversary. I hope I get it done in time! There are so many things I want to do I can't keep up!
